Eleanor Knapp Kennard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 18, 1941, the daughter of Frances Gardner and Arnold Roy Knapp. She married James Bischoff Kennard September 6, 1961 and received her degree in music from the University of Utah in 1962.
While rearing five beautiful and talented daughters, she studied with Jay E. Welch and earned her master's degree in choral conducting from the University of Utah in 1986.
An accomplished pianist, singer, and choral director, Eleanor sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1979 to 1986.
She formed the Eleanor Kennard Chorale in 1984. In May 2004, she directed them in their 20th Anniversary Concert on Temple Square.
Eleanor died September 7, 2004, leaving a legacy of service through music. Her family has graciously allowed us to purchase her Steinway grand piano to encourage others to find joy and peace through sharing music.
